Three Days From Collapse - Are Truckers Really That Underappreciated?

Been seeing a lot of talk on social media about truckers being underappreciated. Someone posted “You’re all three days away from collapse” and honestly… they ain’t wrong. :delivery_truck:

Think about it:

  • Day 1: Grocery stores start running low on perishables, gas stations can’t restock
  • Day 2: Hospitals run short on supplies, pharmacies can’t fill prescriptions
  • Day 3: Full-blown panic. No food, no fuel, no medicine

And yet we’re out here dealing with:

  • Shippers who make us wait 4+ hours with no detention pay
  • Brokers taking 40% cuts while rates keep dropping
  • The public who cuts us off then flips US the bird
  • New regulations every year that squeeze our profit margins

I’m not saying we should stop rolling. I LOVE this job - the freedom, the road, seeing the country. But man, some days I just need to vent about how little respect we get.

Anyone else feeling this lately? What’s got you frustrated this week?

Drop your rant below - this is a judgment-free zone! :backhand_index_pointing_down:

The “3 days from collapse” stat really hits different when you’ve lived through supply chain crunches.

Remember 2020? Truckers were suddenly “heroes” getting applauded at truck stops. Fast forward to today and you can’t even find a parking spot at most rest areas without getting a ticket.

Here’s what frustrates me most:

  • Infrastructure: Roads are falling apart but tolls keep going up
  • Detention time: We’re expected to wait hours at shippers/receivers for FREE
  • Regulations: More compliance burden every year while rates stay flat

Yet every single thing in every store, hospital, and home got there on a truck. :articulated_lorry:

I think the younger generation sees it though. CDL programs are struggling to fill seats. Eventually the market will HAVE to value drivers more when there’s nobody left willing to do it.

What do y’all think - will the driver shortage finally force better conditions, or will automation come first?
